1Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed.

2O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.

3Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.

4Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.

  1. God at times choose people to work in His house, this was chosen for a role of service, election to service and they sure would be blessed men to be able to do this:

    1. Assigned to work in the courts specifically and control access

1 Chronicles 23:28–32 “ their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;”

1 Chronicles 9:22–23 ““All these which were chosen to be porters in the gates were two hundred and twelve… these were ordained in their set office.”

      See also 2 Chronicles 23:19, Psalm 84:10

    2. Levites chosen to approach and minister to the Lord in his house

Deuteronomy 10:8 “At that time the Lord separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the Lord, to stand before the Lord to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.”

Numbers 3:5–10 “Bring the tribe of Levi near… that they may minister unto him… and keep his charge… before the tabernacle of the congregation.”

See also Numbers 8:14–16, Malachi 3:3

    3. Aaron and his sons are a chosen lineage from among Israel to serve as priests and restricted for others.

Exodus 28:1 ”And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons.”

Leviticus 21:17–23 “He shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God… only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar.”

See also Numbers 16:5, Hebrews 5:4

  2. Not all may approach or dwell in the courts

    1. Exodus 19:21–24 “The LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.”

See also Psalm 15:1, Psalm 24:3

  3. God Himself causest the approach

    1. Jeremiah 30:21 “I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach unto me?”

    2. Ezekiel 44:15–16 “The priests… that kept the charge of my sanctuary… they shall come near to me to minister unto me.”

  4. A man is blessed that dwells in God’s courts

    1. Psalm 84:4 “Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee.”

    2. Psalm 92:13 “Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.””

5By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea:

6Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; being girded with power:

7Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.

8They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.

9Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it.

10Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: thou makest it soft with showers: thou blessest the springing thereof.

11Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness.

12They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: and the little hills rejoice on every side.

13The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing.
